welcome to autumn term 2020 and the united nations of surval students! this year we welcome students from brazil, dominican republic, england, india, iran, ireland, russia, saudi arabia, south africa, switzerland, ukraine and usa.
there are a number of new students joining us this year. when asked their reasons for choosing surval, we were told:
“..for all the amazing things i had heard about it and all of the opportunities i would be given” (leah)
“.. i knew it was going to feel like home” (mariana)
“.. the opportunity to learn french and travel, while finding my purpose in life” (isabel).
and what’s the verdict now these girls are here?
“i am loving everything, the people are amazing and i am enjoying every second” (mariana)
“i am super impressed; happy i made this decision!” (payton)
the surval ‘family’ has enjoyed a highly productive first week with our imaginative induction programme, bonding over getting to know you activities, exploring personal interests and our stories so far. there’s been cycling, hiking in local gorges, yoga and visiting montreux. we’ve had fun creative sessions with scavenger hunts, drawing by description, making bracelets, teambuilding with spaghetti towers and had workshops in video making, social media, blogging and vlogging. particularly close to our hearts, we have explored the french culture and several languages and celebrated each other’s cultures in our international diversity day. there have been quiz nights, movie nights and our first al fresco barbecue of the year.
those in quarantine have remained positive and upbeat throughout, getting involved in our busy programme online and on their balconies! with all quarantines now complete, surval’s terraces, communal areas and tennis court have been buzzing with girls making the most of the warm sunshine and glorious sunsets our setting gifts us.
in this fabulous term of three seasons, so much lies ahead – we look forward to sharing it with you!
